A Minecraft AI companion

An AI friend who actually plays.

Cog lives in your own hosted Minecraft world. Say what you want in the chat and they go and do it: follow you down the mine, build the castle you described, guard the base, write a game for the four of you. Your friends join with the game they already own. Nothing to install.

Asked for in one sentence, built while the player watched. More places Cog has built.

What you say, and what happens

Four things people ask their companion for on the first day

"Come with me, we're going mining."

They walk with you

On foot, over the hills and round the water, at your pace. In survival Cog digs a real staircase down, lights it as they go, and comes back up with the iron in their hands and a count you can check against the chest.

"Build us a treehouse village in that oak."

They build the thing you meant

Not a schematic you import. Cog designs the place, puts it in the world you are standing in while you watch, then measures what went up: the doors open, the route can be walked, the roof is a roof.

"Stay here and watch the base."

They hold the ground

Anything hostile that walks into the ring you left them in gets dealt with. They break off before they die in your doorway, and you are told what turned up while you were away.

"Make up a game for the four of us."

They write a game and load it

New rules, a scoreboard and an arena arrive in the running world. Nobody gets kicked, nobody installs anything, and the game is playable a few seconds after you asked.

Companion mods and this

The difference between an AI that talks and an AI that plays

If you want a voice in your ear that comments on your game, a companion mod does that well and some are free. If you want a second player in the world who does the work with you, that is what this is. The comparison page goes through the options.

What it needs from you

Minecraft Java Edition, and a sentence

You need your own copy of Minecraft Java Edition on a computer, the same as always. Bedrock, consoles and phones cannot join a Java world yet. There is no mod, no launcher profile and no API key: Cog runs on the server, so a friend on a school laptop joins the same way you do.

One person pays for the world, from $12 a month, and everybody they invite joins free. Trying it costs nothing. Pricing has the plans; Safety has what a private, whitelisted world means for a family.

Questions

Straight answers

Is this a mod I download?

No. Cubelings is a hosted Minecraft world with the AI companion already in it. There is nothing to install and no API key to paste in. You join the world from the normal game and start talking to Cog in the chat.

Does it work on Bedrock, consoles or phones?

Not yet. Cubelings is for Minecraft Java Edition on a computer. Bedrock players cannot join a Java world, so please check which edition you have before you sign up.

What is free?

Trying it is free. After that one person pays for the world, from $12 a month, and everybody they invite joins free with the copy of the game they already own. There is no charge per friend and no charge per request.

Can I give the companion a different name and look?

Yes. Cog is the name and skin it arrives with. Rename it, give it any Minecraft skin, and set how it behaves. Every world gets its own.

Does the AI companion play survival by the rules?

Yes. In survival nothing appears from nowhere: Cog walks there, digs it, smelts it and crafts it, in that order, and can die trying. In creative it builds whatever you describe on the spot.

Is it safe for kids?

The world is private, whitelist-only and on no public server list. Cog refuses the things you would expect it to refuse, and anything it builds can be undone. The safety page has the full list.
